Joseph-Emery Kouaho

Joseph-Emery Kouaho, a proud descendant of the Cote D’Ivoire, is a PhD candidate studying Educational Administration Policy program at the University of Georgia’s Mary Frances Early College of Education. His research interests center on how federal education policies have impacted the lived and educational experiences of black persons, with an additional focus on racial equity, and humanizing research that gives voice to communities marginalized by policies. Joseph-Emery earned his Master of Public Policy from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Joseph-Emery has experience working with projects in early childhood education, K-12 education, and higher-ed. He also has experience in economic development, and with projects that employ qualitative or quantitative research methods. Joseph-Emery is currently completing his dissertation which is a qualitative narrative inquiry, that focuses on how currently enrolled undergraduate Black male students describe their parents’ engagement practices during their primary and secondary schooling years.
